Gladstone Moves to Hannam-dong
Opening August 31, 2026

Gladstone announces its forthcoming move to a new and expanded space in Hannam-dong, one of Seoul’s leading arts and culture hubs. Situated among major institutions such as the Leeum Museum of Art alongside international and local galleries, the move reflects the gallery’s ongoing commitment to the region. Designed by Minsuk Cho and the renowned Seoulbased architecture firm Mass Studies, the new space encompasses two floors within 739-28 Hannam Building at Yongsan, doubling the gallery’s exhibition area and further strengthening Gladstone’s presence in Asia. Opening August 31, 2026, the space will be inaugurated with a major solo exhibition of Ed Atkins, marking the artist’s debut in Seoul.

“Gladstone has always approached its program from a global perspective, creating opportunities for our artists to reach audiences across different regions and cultural contexts,” said Gladstone Senior Partner Max Falkenstein. “The opening of our new space marks an important milestone for the gallery and strengthens the international platform through which we engage with leading institutions, private collectors, and arts enthusiasts worldwide.”

“Asia has become an increasingly important part of Gladstone’s program and global network,” said Gladstone Partner Paula Tsai. “Our new space in Seoul allows us to further strengthen the relationships we have built with collectors, curators, and museums across the region while continuing to support our artists’ engagement with audiences throughout Asia.”

“Seoul is home to an extraordinarily active and thoughtful community of artists, curators, museums, and collectors,” added Gladstone Seoul Associate Director Jiwoong Jeong. “Our new space enables us to become even more deeply embedded in that ecosystem and to contribute to the conversations shaping the city’s contemporary art landscape.”

Having established its Korea outpost in 2022, Gladstone is among the first international galleries to enter the Korean art landscape. The gallery’s Korea outpost has functioned as its sole flagship in Asia, guiding its regional strategy while strengthening institutional partnerships across the nation. Since its inception the gallery has actively worked to champion, contextualize, and showcase its artists through exhibitions, special projects, and participation in major art fairs across East Asia. In addition to presenting artists from its global program in Seoul, Gladstone artists have been the subject of major exhibitions at leading institutions across the region, most recently including Philippe Parreno at the Leeum Museum of Art (2024), Robert Rauschenberg at M+ in Hong Kong (2025), Ugo Rondinone at Museum SAN (2024), and Anicka Yi at the Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing (2025) and the Leeum Museum of Art (2024).

The gallery also participates annually in the region’s major art fairs, such as Art Basel Hong Kong, where it has mounted presentations since the fair’s inaugural edition in 2013. At the fair’s most recent iteration in March 2026, Gladstone saw an especially strong reception and sales from new and longstanding collectors alike, tripling its sales over previous years. In May 2026, Gladstone will expand its fair participation in the region with presentations at PhotoFairs Shanghai (May 7-10) and Art Busan (May 22-24), and the gallery returns to Frieze Seoul in September 2026, continuing to extend its engagement of international collectors with the breadth of its artist roster.
